With an 8-2 winning ratio with one drawn over the past 12 years in encounters with their Ellis Park rivals the Sharks return to Johannesburg Saturday for a crucial Super 14 rugby match against the Cats.
John Smit and his men will want nothing less than a maximum five points to keep on track for a possible semi-final berth while the Cats, bolstered by the input from national coach Jake White at the start of the week, will want to again hit the winning trail after a run of losses in Super 14 rugby that sees them entrenched firmly at the bottom of the five South African Franchise teams and in grave danger of having to face the horrid prospect of a boardroom decision relegation.
Unless the impasse is resolved and the Spears of the Eastern Cape are offered an acceptable alternative.
Needless to say the Sharks will show them no mercy and taking a run through their respective home matches against the Reds in recent weeks it would appear that the Cats have a more than major task on their hands to avert a humiliating defeat at the hands of the rampant Natalians.
The Sharks lineup is: Percy Montgomery, Odwa Ndungane, Adrian Jacobs, Andries Strauss, Henno Mentz, Tony Brown, Ruan Pienaar, AJ Venter, Jacques Botes, Warren Britz, Johann Muller, Johan Ackermann, BJ Botha, John Smit (captain) and Deon Carstens
Reserves :Bismarck du Plessis, Heinke van der Merwe, Albert van den Berg, Keegan Daniel, Scott Mathie, Bradley Barritt and JP Pietersen.
